Christopher’s light is a local non-profit organization started in the spring of 2018 by Karen McKendree providing children in the Armstrong and Westmoreland counties with free clothing, school supplies and educational support.
During the month of June, Swank employees are hosting a clothing drive to, once again, help make Christopher’s Light brighter.
Clothes can be dropped off at the Swank office up until Friday, June 21. Clothes that are new, or gently worn sizes newborn to adult small will be collected.
Beth Sestric, Project Document Controller, organized a clothing drive last October that was such a huge success, the Founder of Christopher’s Light, Karen McKendree reached out to Beth in April to tell her about the summer Clothing Drive in June. After researching local charities, Christopher’s Light stuck out for Swank.
“The founders’ story of starting the organization in memory of her son,” Beth said, “their mission to help local children in the Armstrong/Westmoreland area was inspiring.”
The Spring/Summer Clothing Drive will take place on Saturday, June 29, at Vandergrift VFW from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. At the drive there will be food, raffles and a flea market.
